JAKARTA, Nov 26 (Reuters) - Indonesia's PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTM.JK) ANTM.AX expects its 2009 ferro-nickel output to fall to 11,500-12,000 tonnes, against a target of 17,000 in 2008, President Director Alwin Syah Loebis said on Wednesday.

The production cut is part of the state miner's strategy to anticipate any further falls in commodity prices due to weak global demand.

"The production cut is important to reduce expenses," Loebis said.

Separately, Finance Director Djaja Tambunan said the company may lower capital expenditure to around $43-$45 million per month in 2009 from $50 million per month this year.

Loebis said other efforts to cut cost included a plan to build 150 megawatt coal-fired power plant, starting next year, to reduce the use of more expensive diesel fuel.

The construction of the plant may take three years. (Reporting by Aloysius Bhui and Andreas Ismar; Editing by Ed Davies)
