LONDON, March 6 (Reuters) - British Airways (BAY.L) remains interested in any opportunities to buy rival airline bmi, BA Chief Executive Willie Walsh said on Thursday.

"We're very interested in the future of bmi," he said at the airline's investor day. "Anything that gives us the option to pursue further growth at Heathrow is interesting."

Bmi is seen changing hands this year. Sir Michael Bishop, the chairman and founder of bmi, owns 50 percent of the airline plus one share. Deutsche Lufthansa (LHAG.DE) owns 30 percent minus one share, while Scandinavian airline SAS AB (SAS.ST) owns 20 percent. (Reporting by Pete Harrison; Editing by David Holmes)
