California Sunrise power plant off-line unplanned

LOS ANGELES, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Sunrise Power Co's 545-megawatt Sunrise natural gas-fired power plant in California was off-line for unplanned work on Monday, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.

There was no indication when the unit would return to service after the unscheduled outage.

Edison Mission, a subsidiary of Edison International (EIX.N) based near Los Angeles, and Chevron Corp (CVX.N), based near San Francisco, each own 50 percent of Sunrise Power.

It is run by Edison Mission.

The combined-cycle generating plant is located in Fellows in Kern County, about 35 miles southwest of Bakersfield, California, and 130 miles north of Los Angeles. There are two 150 MW gas turbines and one 245 MW steam turbine at the station.

One megawatt powers about 650 homes in Southern California. (Reporting by Bernie Woodall)
