Mexico's Asur Oct. passenger traffic down 7.2 pct

MEXICO CITY, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste said on Friday its October passenger traffic fell 7.2 percent from a year before, hurt by declines in six of its nine destinations, including the resort of Cancun.

The company, known as Asur (ASURB.MX) (ASR.N), is slowly recovering from the harsh effects of a flu outbreak in Mexico earlier this year that halted key chunks of the economy for several days and scared tourism away.

In May, Asur's traffic plunged 51 percent but subsequent monthly results have shown less abrupt declines. The company's shares slipped 0.23 percent to 57.45 pesos in early dealings on Friday. (Reporting by Cyntia Barrera Diaz, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
