LOS ANGELES, May 7 (Reuters) - Southern California Edison's 527-megawatt natural gas-fired Unit 4 at its Mountainview power station in Redlands, California went off-line on Wednesday, the California Independent System Operator showed in a report.

There was no mention of when the plant will return to service. It was down for both unplanned and planned maintenance, SCE told the state's grid operator.

The same-sized Unit 3 at the plant was in service, the same report showed.

One megawatt powers about 650 homes in the SCE service area.

Southern California Edison is a subsidiary of Edison International (EIX.N). (Reporting by Bernard Woodall)
