AEP Texas Welsh 3 coal power unit to restart soon

NEW YORK, Oct 14 (Reuters) - American Electric Power's (AEP.N) 528-megawatt Welsh 3 coal-fired power unit in Texas was expected to restart soon, after a recent outage, Texas regulators said Tuesday in a report.

The unit, in Cason, Texas, about 130 miles east of Dallas, was expected to begin air start-up between Oct. 14 and 17, the report said.

The 1,584 MW Welsh plant consists of three 528 MW units.

One MW powers about 500 homes in Texas.

AEP's Southwest Electric Power Co subsidiary owns and operates the station.
