TEXT-Lockheed confirms it won Pentagon GPS contract
May 15 (Reuters) - Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) issued the following statement:
Lockheed Martin is proud to be selected as the U.S. Air Fore's partner to build the next-generation Global Positioning System Space Segment program, known as GPS III.
This win represents an important achievement for the corporation and our industry teammates, which include ITT and General Dynamics.
We are honored that our government customer has entrusted our team to build this vital system, which will provide improved GPS accuracy and assured availability for military and civilian users worldwide.
