Spain's OHL wins road contract in State of Mexico
MEXICO CITY, April 21 (Reuters) - The Mexican unit of Spain's OHL (OHL.MC: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) won a contract to build the first section of a major road in the State of Mexico, which surrounds the capital city, the state said on Monday.
The work, estimated at $370 million, is for a 15-mile (23.5 km) section of a road that will provide a link to the capital from densely-populated areas on the outskirts. The work will begin in August and is due to finish two years later.
The Mexican construction firms ICA (ICA.MX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) (ICA.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), the biggest in the country, and IDEAL (IDEALB1.MX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), part of the empire of tycoon billionaire Carlos Slim, lost out in the running for the contract.
OHL won the contract on the grounds that it offered the lowest toll cost for users of the road once it is built. (Reporting de Adriana Barrera; editing by Neil Fullick)
