Dominion Wisc. Kewaunee reactor back at full power
NEW YORK, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Dominion Resources Inc's (D.N) 556-megawatt Kewaunee nuclear power station in Wisconsin returned to full power by early Monday from 33 percent early Friday after exiting a refuel last week, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said in a report.
The unit was shut by Sept. 28.
The unit last shut for refueling from about March 28-May 12, 2008. The unit is on an 18-24 month refueling cycle.
The Kewaunee station, which entered service in 1974, is located in Kewaunee in Kewaunee County about 30 miles from Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Dominion filed in August 2008 for a 20-year extension of the plant's original 40-year operating license. The NRC said on its web site it planned to make a decision in February 2011.
One MW powers about 800 homes in Wisconsin.
Dominion, of Richmond, Virginia, owns and operates about 27,000 MW of generating capacity, markets energy commodities and transmits and distributes electricity to 2.4 million customers in Virginia and North Carolina. (Reporting by Scott DiSavino; Editing by John Picinich)
