Hyundai Heavy aims for $27 bln ship orders in 2008

SEOUL, Dec 31 (Reuters) - Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. (009540.KS), the world's largest shipbuilder, said it was aiming to win $27.4 billion worth of orders in 2008 from an estimated $26.9 billion in 2007, the South Korean firm said on Monday.

Hyundai said in filings with the Korea Exchange it was also aiming to post annual revenue of 18.1 trillion won ($19.34 billion) in 2008, up 16 percent from an estimated 15.6 trillion won in 2007.

The company also said the 2007 estimated order total represented a 42 percent jump from 2006, while the 2007 revenue figure represented a 24 percent increase. ($1=935.8 Won) (Reporting by Kang Shin-hye and Lee Jin-joo; Editing by Sei Chong)
