Newmont Mining says eyeing acquisition targets

PERTH, April 2 Reuters) - World No.2 gold producer Newmont Mining Corp (NEM.N) has a number of acquisition targets on its radar and a strong balance sheet to pursue them, the company said on Thursday.

Newmont's acting regional vice president Asia Pacific, Philip Stephenson, made the comments on the sidelines of a conference in the west Australian city of Perth, but did not name any of the potential targets. (Reporting by Fayen Wong)
