Australia's P.Hedland iron ore shipments up in Sept

SYDNEY, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland rose to 14.4 million tonnes in September from 14.2 million tonnes in August, port figures showed on Wednesday.

The port handles BHP Billiton Ltd's (BLT.L) (BHP.AX) and Fortescue Metals Group's (FMG.AX) production from Western Australia's Pilbara iron ore producing region and is one of the country's two main iron ore export ports.
