TOKYO, April 30 (Reuters) - Dowa Holdings Co Ltd (5714.T: Quote, Profile, Research), a top Japanese indium supplier, will raise its selling prices for the metal by 10,000 yen per kg, or more than 14 percent, from May 1 to reflect global prices and currency markets.

Indium, a by-product from zinc refining, is a key ingredient for making liquid crystal displays for television and computer screens.

Dowa said in a statement on Wednesday that it would raise the price of indium ingots with 99.99 percent purity by 10,000 per kg to 75,000 yen ($720) for customers who buy in large volumes.

It will also raise the price by 10,000 yen to 80,000 yen for customers who buy in small lots.

Indium IND-ING-LON is currently trading around $655 per kg, up from the year's low of about $425 in early February.

The price is still sharply below a record high above $1,000 hit in early 2005. (Reporting by Miho Yoshikawa)
