Mitsubishi Chem ethylene plant fire to hit output

TOKYO, Dec 21 (Reuters) - Japan's Mitsubishi Chemical Corp (4188.T) said on Friday its No.2 ethylene plant in Ibaraki prefecture near Tokyo had caught fire and it expects an impact on production.

A company official said there would probably be some effect on production at the Kashima ethylyene plant, which has a capacity of 476,000 tonnes per year, but it was not yet possible to say how much.

There were no injuries from the fire.

No further information was immediately available, including whether the fire had been put out. (Reporting by Chikafumi Hodo)
