Japan stocks fall over 2 pct hit by financial worries

TOKYO, July 15 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average slid 2.1 percent on Tuesday to touch a 3-½ month low, as bank shares such as top lender Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (8306.T) took a beating due to worries about the U.S. financial sector.

As of 0333 GMT, the benchmark Nikkei .N225 had shed 277.80 points to 12,732.36, its lowest point since April 1.

The broader Topix lost 2.1 percent to 1,253.90. (Reporting by Aiko Hayashi)
