Indian shares rise 3 pct on strong global cues

MUMBAI, July 14 (Reuters) - Indian shares rose more than 3 percent on Tuesday afternoon as a strong opening in European markets, following on an overnight rally in Wall Street and encouraging data from Singapore and Australia, lifted sentiment.

By 1:56 p.m. (0826 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 2.95 percent at 13,795.55 points, with all components gaining after rising as high as 13,812.13.

The 50-share NSE index was up 2.97 percent at 4,091.25 points. (Reporting by Janaki Krishnan)
