SYDNEY, June 24 (Reuters) - Santos Ltd (STO.AX), an Australian oil and gas producer, forecast a net production loss of 1.2 million barrels of oil equivalent in 2008 due to disruptions to its operations in west Australia.

An explosion at Apache Energy's (APA.N) Varanus gas plant in June halted processing and export of gas from the John Brookes field, which is 45-percent-owned by Santos. For more see: [ID:nSYD6790] (Reporting by James Thornhill; Editing by James Regan)
