NEW YORK, March 17 (Reuters) - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Tuesday a voluntary recall of some Chinese-made girls' shoes sold at upscale department store chain Nordstrom Inc (JWN.N), citing a lead hazard.

The surface paint on the outer sole of the shoes contains excessive lead that violated the federal lead paint standard, the CPSC said in a statement, but added no injuries had been reported yet.

The recall of thousands of shoes includes six styles of Nordstrom-brand footwear for girls in specific colors. The shoes were sold in girls' sizes 10 through big-kids 7 exclusively at Nordstrom stores from September 2006 through February 2009, at $35 to $45, according to the CPSC.
