Jazztel to hit Q2 target on strong client sign-ups
MADRID, July 6 (Reuters) - Spanish telecoms operator Jazztel (JAZ.MC) said on Monday its second-quarter results were in line with estimates in its strategic plan, revealing it had hit a target for customer numbers six months ahead of schedule.
Jazztel said it estimated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) had risen to between 7 million euros ($9.8 million) and 8 million from April to June compared with 300,000 euros a year earlier.
Income would rise to between 106 million and 108 million from 82.6 million in the second quarter of 2008. In a note to Spain's stock market regulator, the landline and broadband supplier said its number of clients had risen to 476,841 versus 429,641 at the end of March and 315,349 a year earlier.
After signing up 90,000 customers since January, Jazztel has already hit its 2009 target to have between 470,000 and 510,000 users.
The company is due to publish second-quarter results on July 28. (Reporting by Ben Harding; Editing by David Holmes)
