NEW YORK, April 7 (Reuters) - Citigroup Inc (C.N) director C. Michael Armstrong is expected to step down as audit committee chairman, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

A spokesman for Citi said the bank expects to begin changing some committee chairs this summer, as part of periodic changes to board committees.

Armstrong is not resigning from the board or from the audit committee, the spokesman said.

Armstrong is the former chairman and chief executive of AT&T Corp (T.N).
