UPDATE 1-Rambus says top US court denies Samsung appeal

NEW YORK, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Memory chip technology developer Rambus Inc (RMBS.O) said on Tuesday that the United States Supreme Court ruled in its favor in a long-running patent dispute with Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS).

A federal appeals court sided with Rambus last April in the dispute. Samsung then appealed to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court order in favor of Rambus means that Samsung has exhausted its appeals and the case is now closed. (Reporting by Paul Thomasch, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
