CORRECTED - (OFFICIAL)-Forrester cuts '09 US tech spending forecast
(Forrester corrects previous forecasts in first paragraph)
NEW YORK, Sept 16 (Reuters) - Forrester Research cut its 2009 U.S. technology spending growth forecast to 6.1 percent from 9.4 percent, the research group said on Tuesday, but raised its 2008 growth forecast to 5.4 percent from 3.4 percent.
The economic slowdown Forrester expected in the first half of this year is now expected in the second half of 2008 or the first half of next year.
"(This) means that total U.S. IT (information technology) spending for 2008 will be more robust than we first predicted, but that an expected recovery in 2009 will be postponed," Forrester said in a statement.
The report follows Dell Inc (DELL.O) and Ingram Micro Inc's (IM.N) warning on Tuesday that technology demand was weakening in the current quarter, with Ingram Micro cutting its revenue and earnings outlook. (Reporting by Tiffany Wu; Editing by Derek Caney)
