Verizon, Klausner settle voice mail patent suit

NEW YORK, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Verizon Wireless settled a lawsuit over voice mail technology with the owners of the patent, Klausner Technologies Inc, according to inventor Judah Klausner.

Klausner said on Friday that his company granted Verizon Wireless, owned by Verizon Communications Inc (VZ.N) and Vodafone Group (VOD.L), a patent license related to voice message alerts.

He did not disclose the financial terms of the settlement, which was reached on Thursday, and Verizon said it could not confirm the deal.

The technology in question helps send visual alerts to computers or mobile telephones when a user has a voice message.

Klausner agreed to similar settlements with other telecommunications and technology firms, such as AT&T Inc (T.N) and Sprint (S.N), as well as Apple Inc (AAPL.O).

It also settled with Comcast Corp (CMCSA.O) and Cablevision (CVC.N) in recent months, while outstanding cases include those against Embarq Corp (EQ.N) and Google Inc (GOOG.O). (Reporting by Ritsuko Ando; Editing by Derek Caney)
