SingTel says awards $160 mln deal to Ericsson

SINGAPORE, May 16 (Reuters) - Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (STEL.SI) (SingTel) said on Friday that it is investing S$220 million ($160 million) in its second- and third-generation mobile network expansion and enhancement programme and has awarded the contract to Ericsson Telecommunications (ERICb.ST).

Ericsson will deliver to SingTel a complete, future-proof IP-based radio and core mobile network, designed to carry large volumes of traffic efficiently and effectively, SingTel said in a statement. (Reporting by Ovais Subhani)
