China's ZTE wins Kenya optical network deal

SHANGHAI, April 7 (Reuters) - ZTE Corp (0763.HK), China's second-largest telecoms equipment maker, said on Monday it had struck a deal with the government of Kenya to help construct a network covering the western part of the African country.

ZTE (000063.SZ) is helping to construct a large-scale optical network, which is expected to bolster Kenya's business communication infrastructure, the company said in a statement. No financial terms were disclosed in the statement.

ZTE's Hong Kong-listed shares were down 0.2 percent on Monday morning, lagging a 0.6 percent gain in the benchmark index .HSI. (Reporting by Sophie Taylor; Editing by Anne Marie Roantree)
