TAIPEI, April 11 (Reuters) - Taiwan newspapers carried the following stories on Friday. Reuters has not verified these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.

CHINA TIMES

-- Seventeen of Taiwan's diplomatic allies have agreed to send representatives to the inauguration of Ma Ying-jeou on May 20, the foreign ministry said.

-- President Chen Shui-bian will use the name "Taiwan" in his final application to join the World Health Organisation.

UNITED DAILY NEWS

-- The IMF expects Taiwan's GDP growth to slow to 3.4 percent this year from 5.7 percent in 2007, but it should rebound to 4.1 percent in 2009.

-- DPP acting chairman Frank Hsieh said he has no reason to have any conflict with President Chen Shui-bian.

LIBERTY TIMES

-- Responding to rumours that China plans to remove half the missiles pointed at Taiwan after Ma Ying-jeou becomes president on May 20, defence minister Michael Tsai said removing the missiles and destroying them are two separate matters.

COMMERCIAL TIMES

-- Cross-strait stocks such as Lite-On, WPG Holdings (3702.TW) and Clevo Co (2362.TW) have benefited from the rise of China's yuan, which has breached the 7 yuan-to-US$1 level.

ECONOMIC DAILY NEWS

-- Lite-On (2301.TW) and Synnex (2347.TW) have promised to move ahead with plans to build area headquarters in Guangzhou, despite rising costs.
