Prosecutors probe Deutsche Telekom on data misuse

DUESSELDORF, Germany, May 29 (Reuters) - German prosecutors have started investigating Deutsche Telekom (DTEGn.DE) over data misuse, a spokesman for the prosecutors in Bonn said on Thursday.

He did not give further details.

Separately, a security source told Reuters the German telecoms company's headquarters in Bonn had been searched.

Earlier in the week, Deutsche Telekom said it had uncovered the illegal monitoring in 2005 of phone call records amid claims management had spied on rebel directors and journalists to find out who was leaking information. (Reporting by Nikola Rotscheroth)
