Gannett's April publishing revenue falls
NEW YORK, May 19 (Reuters) - USA Today publisher Gannett Co Inc (GCI.N) reported a drop of more than 10 percent in its publishing advertising revenue in April on Monday, with real estate classified sales dropping by nearly a quarter.
Total revenue at Gannett fell 7.7 percent in April compared with last year.
Classified revenue dropped 15.8 percent, with real estate revenues off 23.8 percent, employment down 20 percent and automotive down 13.2 percent.
Those results include Gannett's U.S. and British newspapers. In the United States, classified revenue dropped 20 percent. U.S. real estate revenue fell 27.3 percent and employment fell 28 percent.
USA Today ad revenue fell 6.4 percent, as advertising pages fell to 335 from 381 last year. (Reporting by Robert MacMillan; Editing by Andre Grenon)
