India shares recover slightly from 3-yr lows

BANGALORE, Oct 27 (Reuters) - India's main share index was down 9.1 percent at 0800 GMT on Friday, after having fallen as much as 11.5 percent to its lowest since October 2005 as it was hammered again by investor fears of a global recession. At 1:34 p.m. (0804 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was down 8.51 percent, or 740.12 points, at 7,960.95. All the index's components were in the negative zone.

The broader 50-share NSE index was down 9.31 percent at 2,343.40, after having fallen as much as 12.8 percent earlier. (Reporting by Sumeet Chatterjee; Editing by John Mair)
