MEXICO CITY, Oct 2 (Reuters) - Mexican stocks fell sharply on Thursday as a crisis in credit markets and caution about the fate of a $700 billion rescue plan for the U.S. financial sector kept investors on edge before a House of Representatives vote.

The benchmark IPC stock index .MXX dropped 1.06 percent to 24,852 points in early trade. (Reporting by Jason Lange; Editing by Theodore d'Afflisio)
