Wachovia names Overlander head of fixed income
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wachovia Corp WB.N, the fourth-largest U.S. bank, said on Thursday that Craig Overlander will join on Sept. 15 as managing director and global head of fixed income.
Overlander previously worked for 26 years at Bear Stearns Cos, most recently as managing director and co-head of fixed income. He is one of dozens of former Bear employees whose hirings have been announced by other financial institutions this week. Wachovia is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPM.N), the third-largest U.S. bank, acquired Bear at the end of May, staving off a collapse of what had been the fifth-largest Wall Street investment bank. Overlander had been closely involved in managing the transition related to the JPMorgan acquisition.
At Wachovia, Overlander will report to Ben Williams, head of global markets and investment banking, and will be based both in Charlotte and New York.
