LUSAKA, March 28 More than 1,400 Shoprite
(SHPJ.J) workers in Zambia on Monday went on strike over lack of
a pension scheme, paralysing the operations of Africa's largest
grocer, the union said.
"This is actually a countrywide protest over the
non-availability of a pension scheme," the president of the
Commercial and Industrial Workers' union, Robert Munsanje said.
Munsanje told Reuters that officials from the union and
management were later on Monday expected to meet the minister of
labour to try and resolve the problem.
