NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Cincinnati Reds have hired veteran Dusty Baker as their new manager, Major League Baseball reported on its Web site on Sunday.

Baker, who previously managed the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs, signed a three-year contract, MLB.com reported. He will be introduced at a Monday news conference.

The 58-year-old Baker will replace interim manager Pete Mackanin, who managed the team for the last half of the season after Jerry Narron was fired.

Baker managed the Giants from 1993 through 2002 and the Chicago Cubs from 2003 through 2006, compiling a 1,162-1,041 record. He worked as a television analyst this season.
