Vikings punish Manning errors, Raiders end streak
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Minnesota Vikings returned three intercepted Eli Manning passes for touchdowns and set up another score with a fourth interception as they crushed the New York Giants 41-17 on Sunday.
Two of the touchdowns came in a 42-second span of the fourth quarter as Dwight Smith raced 93 yards and Chad Greenway went 37 yards with intercepted Manning passes.
Darren Sharper also scored off an interception, covering 20 yards with a picked-off Manning pass in the first quarter.
A fourth Manning interception led to an eight-yard touchdown by Chester Taylor in the second quarter.
The Vikings (5-6), playing without injured running back Adrian Peterson, shocked the Giants (7-4) with a 60-yard touchdown pass from Tarvaris Jackson to Sidney Rice with the game just 41 seconds old.
After Reuben Droughns scored on a one-yard run for the Giants to even the score at 7-7, Sharper put Minnesota ahead to stay with his first-quarter interception return.
*The Oakland Raiders beat an American Football Conference (AFC) West Division opponent for the first time in three years when Justin Fargas scored on a 14-yard, fourth-quarter run to give the Raiders a 20-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.
The win ended a 17-game drought against AFC West teams for the Raiders, who also snapped a six-game losing streak.
*San Francisco's Tully Banta-Cain recovered a fumble by Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner in the end zone to give the 49ers a 37-31 overtime victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Continued...
