NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians have lost starting pitchers Jeremy Bonderman and Jake Westbrook to potentially season-ending elbow injuries.

Westbrook will undergo season-ending surgery on his right elbow, Cleveland said.

He was previously sidelined for about a month with a stomach injury and in his first start back on May 28 he felt pain in his elbow.

Bonderman, Detroit's No. 2 starter, was placed on the 15-day disabled list and will also likely miss the rest of the season after receiving treatment on a blood clot under his throwing elbow.

The Indians and Tigers are in third and fourth place respectively in the American League Central Division.
