NEW YORK (Reuters) - San Diego Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson claimed his second straight NFL rushing title when he gained 56 yards in the playoff-bound Chargers' 30-17 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

That gave Tomlinson 1,474 yards on 315 carries for the season. He rushed for 1,815 yards in winning the 2006 title.

Minnesota Vikings rookie running back Adrian Peterson finished second with 1,341 yards despite missing two games with a knee injury.

Peterson set the NFL single-game rushing record of 296 yards against the San Diego Chargers on Nov 4.
