Cubs starter Zambrano put on disabled list

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Chicago starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, one day after a scan on his right shoulder revealed only a minor strain.

"Even if I don't want to go on the DL I have to accept it," Zambrano told reporters. "We don't have to have a problem with my shoulder. We're giving it rest and I think it's the best for everybody."

Zambrano injured his throwing shoulder on Wednesday while pitching against the Tampa Bay Rays. He is expected to miss two starts.
