Santana agrees terms with Mets: report
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York Mets have finalized personal terms with Venezuelan-born pitcher Johan Santana, who will join them from the Minnesota Twins, pending a medical on Saturday, MLB.com (http://www.mlb.com) reported on Friday.
The 28-year-old, two-times Cy Young Award winner, will now head to New York in exchange for four Mets prospects in what is one the biggest trades of the close season so far.
Santana, a dominant starter, mixing a lively fastball with a devastating change-up, has been with the Twins since 2000 and produced an 82-35 record in the last five seasons.
The four young players heading in the opposite direction are outfielder Carlos Gomez and pitchers Philip Humber, Kevin Mulvey and Deolis Guerra.
The Twins earlier agreed the trade with the Mets pending the New York club agreeing personal terms with the left-hander.
