Colts rip Texans on route to sixth straight win
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Peyton Manning threw for three touchdowns and the Indianapolis Colts rolled to a 38-15 home victory over the Houston Texans for their sixth straight win on Sunday.
Dallas Clark caught two of Manning's TD passes, giving him a franchise record 11 for the season. He had six catches for the game for 60 yards, breaking the team record for receptions in a season with 57.
Manning was 28-of-35 for 311 yards in three quarters of play as the Colts improved to 13-2.
Sage Rosenfels threw a 17-yard, first-quarter touchdown pass to Kevin Walter to give Houston a 7-0 lead.
But the next 38 points belonged to Indianapolis.
Joseph Addai put the Colts ahead 10-7 with a two-yard run in the second quarter. Manning then connected with Clark on tosses of six and 11 yards for a 24-7 halftime lead.
Clifton Dawson scored on a four-yard run and Manning threw seven yards to Reggie Wayne to make it 38-7 in the third quarter.
Houston (7-8) finally scored again with 1:07 left in the game when Andre Johnson caught a six-yard pass from Rosenfels.
* The Chicago Bears (6-9) stunned the Green Bay Packers for the second time this season, rushing to a 35-7 home victory as Green Bay's Brett Favre was held without a touchdown pass.
The loss cost the Packers (12-3) a chance to win the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. That honor goes to the Dallas Cowboys.
Favre passed for only 153 yards and was intercepted twice with Brian Urlacher returning the second one 85 yards for a touchdown.
* The New York Giants (10-5) wrapped up an NFC playoff berth with a 38-21 road victory over the Buffalo Bills (7-8). Brandon Jacobs rushed a career-high 145 yards and scored twice for the Giants. Team mate Ahmad Bradshaw added 151 yards rushing, going 88 yards for a touchdown. The Giants also returned two interceptions for touchdowns, Kawika Mitchell going 20 yards and Corey Webster 34 yards for scores. Buffalo tight end Kevin Everett, who suffered a severe spinal cord injury earlier in the season, attended and addressed the Bills before the game.
* Donovan McNabb's three touchdown passes led the Philadelphia Eagles (7-8) to a 38-23 road win over the New Orleans Saints (7-8). Kevin Curtis scored twice for the Eagles, recovering a McNabb fumble in the end zone in the first quarter and catching a seven-yard pass from McNabb in the fourth quarter.
* Fred Taylor sprinted 62 yards for a touchdown on Jacksonville's opening play and the playoff-bound Jaguars (11-4) crushed the Oakland Raiders 49-11. Starter David Garrard and replacement Quinn Gray both passed for two touchdowns for the Jaguars as Oakland fell to 4-11.
* The Detroit Lions (7-8) snapped a six-game losing streak with a 25-20 home win over the Kansas City Chiefs (4-11), which lost their eighth straight.
* The Cincinnati Bengals (6-9) intercepted Cleveland quarterback Derek Anderson four times and prevented the Browns from clinching a playoff berth with a 19-14 home win.
