(Reuters) - World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) president Dick Pound, 65, has criticized former International Olympic Committee president Juan Antonio Samaranch over his stance on doping.
Here are some details about Pound.
* EARLY CAREER:
-- Pound was born in Ontario, Canada, in March 1942. He was a finalist in the 100 meters freestyle at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, and a gold medalist in the 110 yards freestyle at the 1962 Commonwealth Games.
-- He was Canadian freestyle champion in 1958, 1960, 1961, and 1962 and for butterfly in 1961.
-- A two-degree holder from McGill University in Montreal in both Commerce and Civil Law. Pound also received a Licentiate in Accounting from McGill in 1964.
* SPORTS BODIES:
-- Pound became Secretary General (1968-1976) then President (1977-1982) of the Canadian Olympic Association. He was also deputy chef de mission of the Canadian Olympic delegation in Munich in 1972.
