Bobcats fire coach Vincent
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Charlotte Bobcats fired head coach Sam Vincent on Saturday after finishing fourth in the Southeast Division with a 32-50 record.
"The decision to remove Sam after just one season was difficult but it was a decision that had to be made because my first obligation is to do what is in the best interest of our team," managing member of basketball operations Michael Jordan said in a statement.
Vincent, who played in the NBA for seven years, replaced Bernie Bickerstaff in May after the Bobcats finished the 2006-07 campaign with a 33-49 record.
Jordan said the search for a new head coach would begin immediately.
