NEW YORK (Reuters) - Philadelphia Flyers forward Riley Cote has been suspended for three games for elbowing Dallas defenseman Matt Niskanen, the NHL said on Monday.

Cote was assessed a match penalty for the "attempt to injure" Niskanen late in the third period of the Flyers' 4-1 loss to the Stars on Saturday, the NHL said.

The 25-year-old Cote will forfeit around $8,000 in salary because of the suspension. He will be eligible to return December 13 against Montreal.
