WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Washington Wizards forward Antawn Jamison has been signed to a contract extension, the team said on Monday.

Terms of the deal were not released but local media reported it to be a four-year contract worth about $50 million.

The 6-foot-9 forward has averaged 20.4 points and 8.9 rebounds in 299 games for the Wizards.

"Signing Antawn to a contract extension was a top priority for us this summer," Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld said in a statement on the team's Web site (www.nba.com/wizards/)

"He has been a leader for us both on and off the court over the last four seasons, and we're proud to reward his efforts by bringing him back."

The 32-year-old Jamison led the Wizards in scoring (21.4 average) and rebounding (10.2) last season to earn his second All-Star appearance.
