LONG POND, Pennsylvania (Reuters) - Kasey Kahne overcame an early pit road penalty to capture NASCAR's Pocono 500 on Sunday.

The win was Kahne's second in the last three Sprint Cup Series points races, and third in his last four events.

Kahne began the race at the pole, but fell back to 38th after a pit road penalty. He rebounded to dominate the race, leading a race-high 69 of the 200 laps.

Brian Vickers finished second for his best finish since the start of last season. Denny Hamlin was third while Dale Earnhardt Jr. came in fourth.

Jeff Burton was fifth and was followed by Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch. Carl Edwards and Mark Martin rounded out the top 10.

Kyle Busch, who leads the Sprint Cup Series standings, finished 43rd. Burton now trails Busch by just 21 points.

Temperatures were around 90 degrees all day, and a brief rain shower halted action midway through the race.
