NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Walking the ramp may not be as easy as pounding winners on tennis courts for multiple Grand Slam champion Serena Williams but the American took some time off to showcase the work of an Indian designer duo.

Serena, who beat Patty Schnyder in the Bangalore Open final on Sunday, joined ten professional models on Monday to show off the creations of designers Shantanu and Nikhil at an event in New Delhi.

The former world number one, who was clad in a red satin creation, said she preferred to stay in the background in the world of fashion.

"I love to do designing (but) I am not really comfortable wearing 4-5 inches of heels," said the 27-year-old.

"I am definitely not a model and modeling is not ideal for me. I love to be behind the scenes."

Like her elder sister Venus, Serena keeps busy with a passion for fashion design. She has her own clothing label, Aneres, which is her first name spelt backward.

"When I am playing and sweaty, I definitely can't look sexy. But when I design, I like clothes that conform to my body," she said.

Serena, currently ranked ninth in the world, is the last player --- male or female --- to have held all four grand singles titles simultaneously.
