Rockies roll over Phillies to take 2-0 lead
PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - The Colorado Rockies rolled over the Philadelphia Phillies 10-5 on Thursday to take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five National League Division Series.
Colorado second baseman Kaz Matsui had three hits and five RBI, delivering a grand slam home run in the fourth and a run-scoring triple in the sixth.
Matt Holliday and Yorvit Torrealba each contributed a pair of RBI to the win, as the Rockies continued their blistering late-season form collecting their 16th win in 17 games.
The series shifts to Denver on Saturday for game three and the Phillies face an uphill climb. Teams that have won the opening two games in a best-of-five format have gone on to win the series 20 of 21 times.
"We have another game to play," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel told reporters. "We've lost two in a row.
"We've played those games before this year quite a bit. We've got another one to play and we win, we go on.
"I expect us to come out Saturday and play just like always before."
Colorado got off to a quick start when Troy Tulowitzki and Holliday belted back-to-back homers into the left-field stands to stake the Rockies to a 2-0 first-inning lead.
