Rangers beat Blackhawks on return to North America

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Brandon Dubinsky scored a goal and added two assists to lead the New York Rangers past the visiting Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 on Friday, in the Rangers' first regular-season game in North America.

The Rangers, who opened the year in Europe, had four different players score goals to give them a 3-0-0 start to the season. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 30 saves for New York.

"I certainly liked (our) line tonight," Rangers coach Tom Renney told reporters. "You could see that with the sum of their parts they could play as they did tonight, and it came together nicely."

After Wade Redden opened the scoring, which was canceled out by Chicago's Patrick Kane in the first period, the Rangers scored twice more in the second period to take control, with Dubinsky's unassisted goal at 15:36 putting New York ahead 3-1.

Duncan Keith pulled the Blackhawks to within one goal at 7:13 in the third period, before Rangers' Nikolai Zherdev answered with a goal two minutes later to seal the victory.

New York will have its first game against an Atlantic Division opponent on Saturday, when they meet the Philadelphia Flyers.

"I think it's important for us to get off to a good start," said center Chris Drury, who was named as the team's 25th captain.

"Three and (zero) is nice, but obviously we have a big test (Saturday) in Philly, and we need to be ready."
