Giants receiver Burress fined $45,000 by the league
NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress was fined $45,000 by the NFL Friday for three separate incidents during Sunday's 29-17 win against the San Francisco 49ers.
Burress was fined $20,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct, $20,000 for inappropriate post-game comments regarding officiating and $5,000 for throwing the ball into the stands, an NFL official told Reuters.
The 31-year-old, who was suspended by the Giants earlier this season, was called for an offensive pass interference against cornerback Nate Clements in the third quarter of Sunday's game.
On the previous play, Burress caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning and celebrated by tossing the ball into the crowd.
The Giants overwhelmed the 49ers to record their fourth consecutive home win of the season.
Burress returned to team practice with the Giants Friday after missing two training sessions this week because of a neck injury.
