Red Sox Epstein agrees to stay
BOSTON (Reuters) - Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein has ended uncertainty about his future by announcing he has agreed to a contract extension.
A report on the team's official website ( boston.redsox.mlb.com ) said Epstein had told reporters the deal had been agreed some time ago but gave no details of the length of the new contract.
Epstein became the youngest general manager in Major League Baseball when he took the job in November 2002 aged just 28.
In 2004, the Red Sox won their first World Series in 86 years when they beat the New York Yankees after trailing 3-0 and won the top prize again in 2007.
This year, Boston missed out to Tampa in the American League championship game.
