NEW YORK (Reuters) - Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett has been suspended for one game without pay for striking Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut in the face on Saturday, the NBA announced on Monday.

The 6-foot-11 Garnett slapped Bogut following a fourth-quarter incident in which the Australian's arm struck the Celtics player in the mouth after the Bucks center was fouled near the basket.

Boston won the game in Milwaukee 102-97 in overtime.

Both players were assessed technical fouls and Bogut was ejected because it was his second of the contest.

The league also ruled that Bogut's foul on Garnett had been upgraded to a flagrant foul penalty one.

Garnett, averaging 16.3 points and 9.8 rebounds a game this season, will serve his suspension on Tuesday when the Celtics host the New York Knicks.
